I am on a new kick to showcase the glamourous days of Hollywood and the movie stars who personifed that glamour. The first in my series is an interpretation of Audrey Hepburn. Audrey was very vintage Hollywood and yet remains vibrant, modern and relevant today with her sense of timeless style.

Tp purchase this card, visit my Etsy shop, Paper Fields.

The Massie Affair or Outrage on the Ala Moana Road Mixed Media Collage

The Massie Affair
Originally uploaded by Paper Fields
I made this collage some time ago upon reflecting on the events of the Massie Affair. A young white Navy wife, Thalia Massie, left a Honolulu party late on September 12, 1931. What happened that night triggered rape charges against 5 non whites, protests of innocence, and a trial in the media spotlight, with superstar attorney Clarence Darrow that all culminated in murder. Thalia Massie was from a prominent American family. Her mother was the niece of Alexander Graham Bell. At the time, this was a media sensation with William Randolph Hearst fueling the flames of racism.

What really happened to Thalia Massie? American Experience on pbs produced an insightful documentary on the Massie Affair. Visit my Etsy shop at Paper Fields where you can find out more and also purchase this mixed media collage .

Pieces of April - "April is the Cruellest Month"

Tragedy struck us on April 19, 2000. "The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind, the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday." Mine blindsided me on an idle Wednesday.

Be kinder than you need to be. Everyone has their own sorrow. Here is a prayer for peace of mind for everyone who has sadness, especially in April.

Our New Puppy - Gracie Lui has arrived!

I am so excited to announce that we have a new member of the family. Her name is Gracie Lui and she was born on January 14, 2008. Gracie is a Shih Tzu and fits in perfectly with our Dachshund, Rox and Chihuahua, Julio.

Gracie is a delight! She romps in the backyard and loves to try to eat the leaves. You can see from the picture above that Gracie is pooped out from her leaf chomping. We are so glad to have you, Gracie Lui!
